Committees
Administrative Issues Committee - This
committee will evaluate DOT administrative practices and policies as relates
to contracting, contract documents, payments, finals for projects,
administration of contract processes, or other administrative matters as may
be assigned from time to time.
Committee
Assignment: Plan and conduct workshop on claims and finals.
Claims Sub Committee - This committee
will work to establish a more cooperative method of resolving contract
differences, disputes, and claims with DOT.
Committee Assignment: Continue on-going effort to
improve relationship.
DBE Sub Committee - This committee will
work to establish effective alternatives to the existing DBE quota system.
It will also be charged with following the current mounting litigation both
at the local and national level, challenging quota systems.
Committee
Assignment: Continue on-going effort to improve program.
Education & Training Sub Committee - This
committee will represent GHCA in formulating and developing specific
training and development programs for industry personnel.
Committee Assignment: Recommendations for improved
training programs
Associate Group Committee - This
committee will be responsible for establishing ways in which we can better
utilize the talents of our associate members. This committee also
represents the associate group on all matters brought before the GHCA Board.
Committee Assignment: Aid in planning for GQI
Workshop.
Concrete Pavement Committee - This
committee will review and analyze all technical data associated with
concrete pavement activities. Committee will represent GHCA by
participating in the development of GDOT specifications relating to concrete
pavement. Will also work with other concrete pavement associations or
groups involved in concrete research activities and technology development
to ensure that the highest level of quality is achieved.
Committee Assignment: No issues at this time.
Convention Committee - This
committee will present recommendations to GHCA’s Board for future convention
sites and entertainment. Committee will also recommend meeting agenda,
content and format.
Committee Assignment: Planning for 2008
convention. Analyze cost.
Environmental Committee - This
committee is responsible for reviewing various environmental issues
affecting the highway construction industry. They will also serve as GHCA’s
representatives during meetings with local, state, and/or federal officials
who are responsible for formulation and development of environmental
regulations, rules, statutes, etc.
Committee Assignment: Monitor pertinent issues.
GQI Committee - This committee
will work with GDOT to insure the continued success of the GQI process and
annual workshop.
Committee Assignment: Planning for upcoming
workshop.
Long Range Planning Committee –
This committee will develop long range strategies for GHCA and make
recommendations on By-Law revisions, broad policy issues, etc., to GHCA’s
Executive Committee.
Committee Assignment: No issues at this time.
Political Action Committee (PAC) -The PAC
Committee controls the disbursement of political donations from GHCA.
Committee Assignment: Monitor funds distribution.
Structures Committee – This committee
represents the structures contractors within GHCA on all bridge related
issues and structures applications.
Committee Assignment: Plan and conduct workshop.
Utilities Committee - This
committee will represent GHCA in the overall coordination of utilities being
located or relocated on highway construction projects working with
representatives from GDOT, utility companies, and the Utilities Protection
Center. The chairperson of this committee will serve as GHCA’s member on
the Georgia Utilities Coordinating Council (GUCC).
Committee Assignment: Utility coordination on
construction. Participation on overhead utility task force.
Workzone Safety/Traffic Control Committee -
This committee will represent GHCA in working with GDOT as partners in
the ongoing Workzone Campaign with the objective of educating the public on
the critical need to reduce accidents and fatalities in highway construction
work zones.
Committee Assignment: Arrange and conduct workshop.
