National Organizations
American
Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials
- AASHTO is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing highway and
transportation departments in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto
Rico. It represents all five transportation modes: air, highways, public
transportation, rail and water. Its primary goal is to foster the development,
operation and maintenance of an integrated national transportation system.
American Road and Transportation Builders
Association - Established
in 1902, ARTBA is a national federation of private firms, public agencies and
associations with a primary goal of advocating strong federal investment in
transportation infrastructure. On behalf of its members, ARTBA aggressively and
progressively promotes market development of safe and efficient transportation
systems. Complementing its vital leadership roles in this area, the association
also provides advocacy, programs and services designed to help its member firms
and agencies operate more efficiently and profitably.
Federal Highway Administration - The
vision of the FHWA is to create the best transportation system in the world for
the American people through proactive leadership, innovation, and excellence in
service. The FHWA is a part of the Department of Transportation and is
headquartered in Washington, D.C., with field offices across the United
States.
The Road Information Program - Founded
in 1971, TRIP is a nonprofit organization that promotes transportation policies
which relieve traffic congestion, improve air quality, make highway travel safer
and enhance economic productivity.
Associated General Contractors of
America
- The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), the voice of the
construction industry, is an organization of qualified construction contractors
and industry related companies dedicated to skill, integrity, and
responsibility. Operating in partnership with its Chapters, the association
provides a full range of services satisfying the needs and concerns of its
members, thereby improving the quality of construction and protecting the public
interest.
AGC is dedicated to improving the construction industry daily by educating
the industry to employ the finest skills, promoting use of the latest technology
and advocating building the best quality projects for owners—public and
private. AGC is committed to three tenets of industry advancement and
opportunity: Skill, Integrity, and Responsibility.
American Concrete Pavement
Association - ACPA is the premier national
association representing the concrete pavement industry. Our mission is to make
portland cement concrete the material of choice for airport, highway, street,
and local road pavements. ACPA is committed to providing exceptional service to
our members

State Organizations
Georgia Utility
Contractors Association
- The primary purpose of this
Association is to include the promotion and strengthening of mutual
understanding between individuals and companies as Utility Contractors and
General Contractors in construction of public utilities such as communication
systems, gas systems, sewer systems, including storm water, water systems,
reservoirs and filtration plants, sewage treatment plants, water treatment
plants and leachate systems; the promotion of greater uniformity in the
preparation of plans, specifications and contracts for public utilities
projects; the promotion and encouragement of competitive bidding on all
public utilities work, and better and fairer bidding conditions; the
encouragement of responsibility, economy, and integrity in industry on the part
of the contractors, engineers, and owners alike; provide representation
with other individuals and organizations in this field of industry; and provide
training, education, and safety awareness for general/utility contractors.
Georgia
Department of Transportation - The Georgia Department of
Transportation plans, constructs, maintains and improves the state's road and
bridges; provides planning and financial support for other modes of
transportation such as mass transit and airports; provides airport and air
safety planning; and provides air travel to state departments. The Department
also provides administrative support to the State Tollway Authority and the
Georgia Rail Passenger Authority.
Georgia Construction
Aggregate Association - GCAA is organized and operated for the
purposes of promoting the common business interests of, and improving
business conditions for, producers of crushed stone and associated
industries, including but not limited to the following: monitoring and
informing members of proposed legislation before federal, state or local
legislative bodies and of proposed actions, policies, rulings, or
regulations of any federal or state agency or administrative body which may
be relevant to crushed stone producers or associated industries; enhancing
the general public’s knowledge and understanding of the benefits provided by
the crushed stone industry; conducting conferences to be attended by
members, elected officials, or other government personnel to promote
informed discussion of matters affecting the crushed stone industry; and
conducting such other activities as determined by the Association to promote
the common business interests of crushed stone producers and associated
industries and the development of coordinated, rational, and consistent
governmental and/or regulatory policies which will assure the continued
welfare of the crushed stone and associated industries.
Georgians for Better
Transportation - GBT is a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization
aimed at improving the transportation infrastructure throughout the state. We
promote cost-effective solutions to Georgia's transportation needs on land, in
the air with airports and the sea through our ports. We believe that the
efficient movement of people and products through Georgia is the economic
lifeblood of the state's economy. For the protection and comfort of our
citizens, and to remain competitive in the national and international
marketplace, we believe that Georgia must do more to improve its transportation
systems.
Georgia Concrete and
Products Association – GC&PA was formed in 1968 by a merger of the
Georgia Concrete Masonry Association and the Georgia Ready Mixed Concrete
Association. Today, GC&PA members are taking advantage of the valuable services
provided by their Association. In addition to producers of ready mixed concrete
and concrete block, suppliers of products and services to the industry are
extremely involved in planning the Association's many programs. As an
Association of active industry firms throughout Georgia, GC&PA is accomplishing
so much more than individual firms could do alone.
Georgia Partnership
for Transportation Quality - GPTQ is
committed to satisfying the transportation user by providing a durable, smooth,
safe, aesthetically pleasing, environmentally sensitive, efficient and
economical transportation system, in balance with other modes of transportation.
This initiative shall be a statewide effort with full cooperation of all
stakeholders including Federal, state and local agencies, construction industry,
consultants, utility industry and academia. |
